Welcome to Kenderton !

June 10, 2026

Dear Kenderton Families,

As the doors close on another incredible school year, I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude to all of you. The partnership between home and school is what truly makes our community thrive, and your support, patience, and dedication have meant the world to us. Together, we have navigated challenges and celebrated milestones, and I am so proud of what our school community stands for. Please be sure to look on the back of this letter for a detailed preview of what is new for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year as we prepare for an exciting turn ahead.

We have some wonderful victories to celebrate as we head into the summer break. First, a massive thank you goes out to everyone who donated their time, energy, and resources to make Field Day a huge success; the kids had an absolute blast, and we could not have pulled off such a memorable day without our amazing community stepping up. We also reached a monumental milestone in our school attendance by officially meeting our school-wide goal, with 45% of our students achieving fewer than 18 days absent this year. Showing up is the first step to succeeding, and your commitment to getting your children to school paid off. Looking ahead to next year, we are raising the bar and aiming for 55% of our students to meet this attendance standard.

Being a supportive community also means being completely honest about where we stand and where we need to grow. Looking at our end-of-year academic and behavioral data, it is clear that we have a lot of work to do. Our overall Reading Star proficiency stands at 17.2%, our Math proficiency is at 6.5%, and 12% of our students received suspensions this year. These numbers show us that we must do better for our children. Our ultimate goal is to have all students proficient in reading and math, while cultivating a safe, supportive school culture where every child can stay in the classroom and thrive. We are already restructuring our academic and behavioral support systems for next year to aggressively target these areas.

To help bridge the gap and prevent the summer slide, we need your active partnership over the break. We are asking all students to log onto Khan Academy this summer to complete the “Getting Ready” math course for their upcoming grade level. Just a few minutes of practice each day will make a massive difference in how confident they feel walking through our doors in August. Thank you again for your unwavering dedication to our school family. Enjoy the warm summer days, stay safe, and don’t forget to flip this page over to see the fresh changes waiting for us in the fall. Let’s get ready to make the 2026-2027 school year our strongest and most growth-filled one yet.

With gratitude and determination,

Deanna Bredell
