Kenderton Elementary School is named after the Kenderton neighborhood of North Philadelphia, reflecting the school’s longstanding connection to the community it serves. For generations, the school has been a neighborhood cornerstone, providing students and families with a welcoming environment where learning, growth, and opportunity come together.

The current school building opened in 1969, replacing an earlier neighborhood school to better serve the growing community. For more than 50 years, the building has welcomed generations of students while remaining a center for education, community pride, and neighborhood engagement.

Today, Kenderton Elementary School continues its tradition of academic excellence, strong community partnerships, and preparing students for lifelong success. The school is also proud to count Philadelphia native, comedian, actor, and producer Kevin Hart among its former students. Hart has spoken about attending Kenderton as part of his educational journey, making him one of the school’s notable alumni.

• School Day: 8:50 AM – 3:29 PM
• Breakfast: 8:50 AM – 9:25 AM
• Lunch: Grades K–3, 11:40 AM – 12:25 PM; Grades 4–8, 1:10 PM – 1:55 PM

Out-of-School Time (OST)
Out-of-School Time (OST) is the time that a child or youth spends in after school or summer programming. In Philadelphia, OST programs are provided for young people in grades K through 12.

The School District of Philadelphia is required to annually notify parents and eligible students of their rights under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). These rights include the right to inspect and review education records, request amendments, consent to disclosures, and file a complaint.
